Caliper Profile Questions
What is the Caliper Profile?
The Caliper Profile is a scientific instrument for in-depth personality assessment and job matching, and it is the foundation of our work. It provides clear, objective information on an individual's strengths, limitations, motivations, work styles and potential.
The assessment has been validated by almost 60 years of research and measures 21 behavioral traits and abstract reasoning that relate to job performance. Since it was first developed, the Caliper Profile has undergone continuous refinement, and it ranks today as one of the most advanced tools for matching personality to job performance.
How long does it take to complete the Caliper Profile?
It takes approximately 60 minutes to complete and it is not timed.
Do you offer a shortened version of the Caliper Profile?
Yes. We offer a shortened form of the Caliper Profile. This shortened asssessment takes approximately 25 minutes to complete. Unlike the complete Caliper Profile, the shortened assessment does not include the cognitive section (abstract reasoning ability) and is only recommended for assessing entry-level positions. If, later, you would like to administer the full assessment to an individual who took the shortened assessment, they do not have to retake the entire assessment — they only have to take the cognitive portion.
Do you offer a shortened report?
Yes. If you only want to see the scores without the contextual analysis, we offer the Caliper Essentials Highlights report. This summary report is recommended for recruiters who are truly interested in only seeing the scores of an assessee.
Can the Caliper Profile be administered internationally?
Yes. Caliper's assessments are available in the following languages:
Arabic, Bahasa Indonesian, Simplified Chinese, Traditional Chinese, Czech, Danish, Dutch, UK English, U.S. English, Finnish, French, Canadian French, German, Hebrew, Hungarian, Italian, Japanese, Korean, Malay, Norwegian, Polish, Brazilian Portuguese, Russian, Mexican Spanish, European Spanish, Swedish, and Thai.
In addition, Caliper applies scoring based on the culture or country in which the individual will work through the use of norm groups.
Is the assessment compliant with government guidelines?
The Caliper Profile has been developed in accordance with best practices issued by both the U.S. Department of Labor and the Uniform Guidelines of the Society for Industrial and Organizational Psychology, Division 14 of the American Psychological Association.
Additionally, the Caliper Profile meets the legal requirements of the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC). Studies conducted in applied settings continue to support the fact that the Caliper Profile is a reliable, valid, and defensible assessment for making employment-related decisions about job candidates.
Is there a limit to the number of reports I can run?
No. The great thing about having a Caliper Essentials Subscription is that you can run as many reports for selecting, coaching, and developing new or existing talent as your business demands!
I need help interpreting the results. Is there someone I can contact?
Yes. Caliper Consultants are a valuable resource who can support you in applying the power of your Caliper data. These professionals are rigorously trained in assessment interpretation and the application of the Caliper Profile data for selection, coaching, development, and talent alignment. Consultations with a Caliper expert are included in your Caliper Essentials subscriptions and can also be added on and purchased a la carte, as your needs change. Please contact us if you would like to schedule time with a consultant to help with your selection and development needs.
Can the Caliper Profile be used for both selection and development?
Yes. As the Caliper Profile contains objective information on an individual’s strengths, limitations, motivations, work style, and potential, its results can be utilized to help you manage the employee lifecycle from selection through succession with a single assessment.
Is the assessment scientifically validated?
Yes, it is.
Caliper has conducted numerous statistical studies in the applied business setting that examine this question. The assessment has been validated for use across a range of job models (e.g., Senior Leaders, Managers, New Business Development, Customer Service, and Analysts). It has also been validated across a variety of industries (e.g., Pharmaceutical, Financial Services, Communications, Transportation, Insurance, Automotive, Building and Construction, and Apparel and Cosmetics). Additionally, the Caliper Profile has extensively used in professional sports contexts.
The average validity coefficient between Caliper Profile scores and job performance ranges from .29 to .39, which is at or above industry standards.
Assessee Questions
What happens if I experience technical difficulties while taking the Caliper Profile?
The Caliper Profile is taken online. The assessee’s progress will be saved in relation to the last section that was completed. So if you experience technical difficulties or connectivity issues, the assessment will resume after the last section that was completed.
Can I see my results?
Caliper does not send assessment results to individuals who complete the Caliper Profile.
The client company, not Caliper, would make the final decision about sharing the assessment results, as the information (i.e., percentile ranking data) becomes the property of said client.
Please contact the company for whom you took the assessment. Only they have the ability to disclose the results to you, not Caliper.
Why am I unable to access the assessment?
If you are unable to click on the link that was sent to you, or if it does not take you to the proper website, please contact the referring company that asked you to take the Caliper Assessment. They may need to resend the link to you. Also, ensure that your browser is up to date. For the optimal experience we recommend a desktop/laptop computer running the latest version of the Chrome or Firefox web browsers.
Why can I not move on from the current section?
Please review your answers; in the first section of the Caliper assessment, you should have two answers per question – one for “most” and one for “least”. If you only have one, the assessment will not let you continue.
What if I cannot complete the assessment in one sitting?
In order for your results to be consistent and accurate, we always recommend setting up enough time to take the full assessment at once. However, it is not timed, so if for some reason you need to close out and resume at another time, you can do so.
To get back to your assessment, please use the link that was e-mailed to you and log back in to resume after the last section that was completed.
I have a disability or special need. How do I receive accommodates?
If you require special accommodations or assistance with taking the assessment, including readers and other assistance, please inform the company administering the assessment or call Caliper Customer Relations at 609-524-1400.
